Decades ago, a career in music was considered ‘useless’ in South Africa. But things have changed, musicians are raking in monies that white-collar workers can’t even dream of.

Ever wondered how much your favorite SA artist bags home after a performance? It’s not secret, South African musician make some real money especially if they get a lot of bookings. Even though some musicians give us back to back hit songs throughout the year, they still get paid less or more. The amount of money an artist get paid depends on the taste of the people and some other miscellaneous factors.

Lets take out time to go through the list below:

10. Riky Rick – R65, 000 per show

Riky Rick is one of the respected rappers in the entire south Africa and he is also regarded to be one of the highest earning rappers in Africa. With him going through robbery earlier this year, he still moved on finding himself in music relevant features and dropping his recent hit I Can’t Believe It which he dropped last month. Riky Rick currently charges R65, 000 per show.

9. Nasty C – R75,000

At present, Nasty C’s popularity increase both at home and abroad. The young rapper is known for his fluent rap in English and some are even doubting his nationality. Lol. “Nsikayesizwe David Junior Ngcobo” dropped his smashing album Strings & Bling some months back which caused lots of frenzy online. The rapper charges R75,000 for a show. His billing continues to increase every day.

8. Micasa – R90,00

The trio Mi Casa has a huge fan base beyond the shores of the country coasts. The group consists of Dr. Duda, pianist J’Something, and Mo-T. Though we haven’t heard much from them this year, they charge a whooping sum of nothing less than R90,00 per show.

7. Mafikizolo – R95,000

Mafikizolo is a South African singing duo consisting of Theo Kgosinkwe and Nhlanhla Nciza. Though we haven’t really gotten anything solid on the group this year, they dropped their album 20 late last year. They charge nothing less than R95,000 per show.

6. DJ Zinhle — R95,000

DJ Zinhle, born Ntombezinhle Jiyane is one of the most revered female artist in the country. Her smash hit “My Name Is” which features another songstress Busiswa made lots of wave at the time of entry. She revealed to Gareth Cliff that she earns around R95,000 a show. Smashing right???

5. Nathi — R100,000

Nomvula hitmaker Nathi Mankayi is currently one of South Africa’s biggest entertainment asset and export to the international entertainment industry. He prefers headlining shows and events with international acts. He charges as much as R80,000 and R140,000 for a show.

4. Zahara – R145,000

Zahara is unarguably one of the biggest female artist in Africa. Months ago, we confirmed her as the highest paid female African artist. Having appeared on a couple of songs this year including in Usezondibona with Vusi Nova, the singer-songwriter charges nothing less than R140,000 – R145,000 per show.

3. Uhuru — R153,000

Popular kwaito-house group Uhuru has been consistent since their revered fame and the brand has been growing ever since. A report in Move magazine reports that the group charges nothing less than R153,000 a show.

2. AKA – R175,000

AKA is no doubt one of the hardest working rapper and business man in the country. Though he has had to close down his Beam Music group, it doesn’t change the fact that he is still hard working and is one of the most successful artist in SA of all time. The rapper dropped his Touch My Blood album in June this year and has been balling ever since. He is revealed to charge as much as R175,OOO per show.
